The Present Continuous Tense

The present continuous tense is used for actions happening now.

affirmative form (+): subject + TO BE + present participle (infinitive + -ing)

I am sitting now.

He is reading.

They are writing.

 

negative form (-): subject + TO BE + NOT + present participle

I am not making a cake.

He is not running.

They are not singing.  

interrogative form (?): TO BE + subject + present participle

Are you having breakfast?

Is she swimming?
