Fixed arrangements

We use the present continuous tense for fixed arrangements in the future.

I'm going to the cinema tonight.

Ići ću / Idem u bioskop večeras. (Već sam kupila kartu.)

Your friend wants you to visit him/her, but you're very busy. Look at your diary for the next few days and explain why you can't come.

Monday: volleyball, 7:30pm

Tuesday: work late (till 9pm)

Wednesday: theatre (with mum)

Thursday: meet Julia, 8pm ...

E.g. A: Can you come on Monday?

B: Sorry, I'd love to, but I'm playing volleyball.

A: What about Tuesday evening then?

B: I can't, I'm afraid. I _____.

A: Well, what are you doing on Wednesday evening?

B: I _____.

A: I see. Well, are you free on Thursday evening?
