Plural of Nouns

Only common nouns have plural forms.

In English, nouns can have regular or irregular plural.

Most nouns get -s in plural:
This is a table. - These are tables.

Nouns ending in -ss, -sh, -ch, -o or -x get the -es ending:
I have a dress. - I have some dresses.

There are some plural nouns with the change in spelling:
There is a factory in my town. - There are factories in my town. (consonant + Y = ies)
There is a knife on the table. - There are knives on the table. (f = ves)

Common nouns with irregular plural change their form:
There is a child in the park. - There are some children in the park.

Some nouns have the same singular and plural forms (fish, sheep, deer, species), others have only the singular (information, advice, news) or the plural form (trousers, scissors, means).
There is a sheep in the field. - There are some sheep in the field.
In compounds, the plural ending is added to the main noun (passers-by, theatre-goers).
*****
Samo zajedničke imenice imaju množinu.

E engleskom jeziku imenice mogu da imaju pravilnu ili nepravilnu množinu.

Većina imenica dobija nastavak -s u množini:
This is a table. - These are tables.

Imenice koje se završavaju na -ss, -sh, -ch, -o or -x dobijaju nastavak -es:
I have a dress. - I have some dresses.

Ima nekih imenica koje u množini trpe promene u pisanju:
There is a factory in my town. - There are factories in my town. (suglasnik + Y = ies)
There is a knife on the table. - There are knives on the table. (f = ves)

Zajedničke imenice sa nepravilnom množinom menjaju svoj oblik:
There is a child in the park. - There are some children in the park.

Neke imenice imaju isti oblik u jednini i množini (fish, sheep, deer, species), neke imenice imaju samo jedninu (information, advice, news) ili samo množinu (trousers, scissors, means).
There is a sheep in the field. - There are some sheep in the field.
U složenicama, nastavak za množinu se dodaje glavnoj reči (passers-by, theatre-goers).
